With over a decade of experience in academia, program development, policy analysis, and research, I am a dedicated professional committed to fostering inclusivity, equity, and transformative change. Currently serving as an Associate Professor in Criminal Justice, my passion lies in advancing social justice within academic and policy spheres. As Co-Chair of a collegewide diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging committee, I lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, a sense of belonging, and justice within our institution. Additionally, I serve as Chair of the Division on People of Color and Crime (DPCC) in the American Society of Criminology (ASC), Co-Chair of the Committee on Community Colleges in the Eastern Sociological Society, and participate in the Teaching and Learning and Race, Gender, and Class Sections of the American Sociological Association (ASA). My research focuses on centering the lived experiences of Black women, exploring the social consequences of mass incarceration, addressing race-related stress, and advocating for transformative justice. Recognized for my scholarly work with the 2021 Eastern Sociological Society (ESS) Barbara R. Walters Community College Faculty Award, I am committed to producing scholarship that informs policy and practice. My academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University, School of Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampton University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Committed to furthering my understanding and application of diversity and inclusion principles, I have certifications from the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program at Cornell University and from The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).
